I love my Alpine Type X 3 ways more then any other peice of gear, even Rane gear. There are lots of companies making good 30 band EQ's. But I just haven't found any speakers I like as much as these, especially with this kick *** crossover.

The worst peice of gear I ever bought would have to be would be this band pass box I bought from a kid in high school for like $10. I could barely hear my 10W0's, nothing compared to my sealed box. That's all I could come up with. I've bought some ****ty CD's too.

The worse was a Pioneer hu I bought back in about 91-92 complete crap, I tried to use it for a year, then gave the POS away. I never did have any luck with Pioneer.
The best would be my Dynaudio components that I got for about $450 CDN New in box. A close second would be my Macrom's.

I'd say the best purchases i ever made were my high-output alternator, and my Focal comps. I love the comps, even though I couldnt really afford them, they were/are worth every balogna sandwich I had to eat...The alt made such a difference in my Impala...It even made my heater work better...the wonders of 'more power'

worst purchase was kind of duplicituous. I bought an older Sony ES deck for my first setup, in the Impala...great deck, no complaints, but the guldamm 'mobile commander' remote (I actually wanted this thing for my install, cuz the deck was in the glove box), I broke four of them before I gave up and ended up having to lean into my glove box to change anything....woohoo safe driving in a 6000 pound car,

The best thing would be my Pioneer P1 HU. Got it at cost when it first came out and only thing I had to do with it was replace the LCD ($25).
Handles all the processing duties.

Worst would be the Lanzar 1200D I bought. Smoked it three times at 2ohm and once came back defective after being fixed. It was cursed.

Best:
Mission Freeway 6 1/2 components, Alpine 7909 and Alpha Core TQ-2 silver interconnects.

Worst:
Orion Cobalt 250 (or something like that, too long ago), Pioneer IMPP 10's and Phoenix Gold balanced interconnects (green jacket from about 4 years ago)

Really? I sold a ton of those IMPP's when they first came out and they always got the job done for the price paid.
And I have those PG green Trans-balanced cables currently in my car with no problems.

Worst and dumb-est purchase........... bought a set of Soundstream Reference SS 10" off Ebay without doing my homework with the seller.............. they arrive trashed/beaten and I never got to use them. Paper weights in the garage now. Money definitely not well spent........... but taught me a wicked lesson about Ebay. That was some time ago...... back when deals were actually deals.

Best thing I bought was P9 combo........... I still swear that that piece is the best bang for the buck today if you want a sweet SQ vehicle.

Biggest regrets................ IDW 18" and a Dynaudio 7" component set I never got to use as well as a brand new set of mint Esoteric Audio E7 amplifiers. Still cannot believe all that I sold all that stuff I never powered any of it up

I wouldnt say anything was the best...since most of what I have gotten worked like it should of.

However..the worst?

-RF EPX2+28band EQ card. This thing is all about inducing noise....

-Monster cable RCA's; The ones that are as thick as 4awg wireing. Flimsey construction... Look cool but are pure crap.

-RF punch 400a4. Always over heated...must have been way over rated.
