I actually HAD to upgrade the power wire on my Panasonic HU.
When I was competing there just wasn't enough power going to the deck during burps and it would skip like crazy. Even making the HU do weird things like change from CD mode to the radio, and skip to different tracks.
I upgraded to 8g and the problems went away. [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]

Hmm this is interesting. My h/u does the dim sometimes. I can notice at night only and I used factory wires. Looks like I may be able to get a tiny bit of gain there! Ah well won't make a difference soon for competin' since I'm gonna be makin a podium

You abusing the crap out of gear is hardly relevant to the install. Yes, a power/ground upgrade on a deck in certain conditions can be advantageous but for the rest of us it's a waste of time.
Also, since the Alpine V-drive decks REQUIRE 10g or whatever, it's hardly an upgrade, now is it?
