Question Bluetooth capable head unit - what can they do for ya???

The head unit i want (Alpine IVA-W200) is blue tooth capable from what the website says, but it doesn't mention what it can do.

I just picked up a cell phone that apparenlty has blue tooth capabliities. Can i use these together somehow or whats the purpose of the bluetooth capable portion on the head unit???

I believe that the HU can access your phone and that you can use the HU to scroll .through your phone numbers in memory. Most bluetooth HUs can also use your speakers as the speaker for your phone.

if you have a bluetooth phone, then a bluetooth HU is he way to go, and vice versa.

good good, thats the kinda thing i was hoping for.

This is 100% speculation, but would it have the capability being within bluetooth range to possibly interupt the music and inform you there is a phone call???

I know some hu's do that, but usually the phone needs to be connected to it....but i'm hoping this bluetooth is something special heh

yes it will do exactly that, as sassmaster said, it will function the same as vehicles that have it from the factory, basically a glorified hands free, that will display the incoming calls on the HU, and answer the call for you, thus interupting the current song.

Yeah pretty much what the other guys mentioned. Only downfall is feedback, when playing through your speakers, you tend to get an echo sound on the recieving end. kind of annoying but if you keep the volume at a decent level, it eliminates it somewhat...

But definately cool stuff.... I have a blue tooth setup in my bmw and i love it...
