Brand name perception, what do you think ?

From a pure sales point of view, I would not use AVI in my area (your's may be different). I have owned AVI products and it is very good but people will have a harder time spending their money if they havent heard of the name. MB, Boston and Macrom all get more publicity then AVI. Juts my opinion.

I've known about AVI for quite a while now. Nown they're out of Richmond or something and were in a magazine doing a head to head with Focal...Which they won
I own the Express EL components and absolutely love them. I think the quality is great and you're supporting a pretty much local company.

As a retailer I would look at it as who's going to be backing the product and what degree of support they can give me. Trends with MB Quart has been an awesome setup for support. Charlie as the AVI rep, no issues to be seen there as well. Mind you the one little tidbit of info that we all remember that happened not too long ago still rings in my mind. If it is guaranteed to never happen again, then it would be a good choice.
MB Quart = great warranty to customer, local = lower shipping charges, years and years of exposure, great support, a huge lineup of speakers.
AVI = great rep, local again, good pricing, good warranty, not so well known - will take more work to build the line.
Macrom - great stuff, lots of work to build the line, back east supplier = longer shipping delays and higher costs.
Boston - don't know too much about other than they are a great speaker system that have been around for years, they too will take time and money to build the line.

As a customer I would like to see Canton (good call Dukk), AVI, Boston, or Macrom because I really like the high end retailers/gear, and I like to see stuff that is not so mainstream.
Now if I were a retailer I think I would carry Quart as my main line due to their familiarity and reputation, and perhaps have one of the others as a "high end" line.
Wouldn't want to see DLS in either case...

If you want to make money carry the brands that people know. One or two high end like quart or AVI, and definitely give your customers the choice of at least 4 well known brands that are mid to mid high level. Remember, the bulk of your day to day business is not going to come from guys on this board, but from average people who have never heard of Macrom or DLS or AVI etc...Cater to your market.

I would disagree with the last post, it has been seen what happened when everyone carries the same line, if fact I think in general these last 2 years shows well what happened in the market. I would go with a different brand and build its reputation. If anyone can do it I ask you who better?
Things I can offer to this conversation.
1.Macrom offers a lifetime warranty on there drivers, would that help you the consumer try our product?
2. Macrom is a company with over 30 years in the business being a car audio only company.
3. Macrom sold 100 million US dollars in the world last year, they must be doing something right, Just cause its not a widely known product in our country does not make in not known. However were working on product recognition eagerly.
4. 1 car, 1 world championship.

5. The fact that I am the only manufacture actually answering this post of the products spoken of, I will eat those word should the AVI manufacturer post or some one directly linked to Boston/Quart

isnt Quart associated with Phoenix Gold?
i saw them in the same booth at the JGTC this year. if that were the case could u just offer some brands from their line up?
i dont think you can go wrong with Quart or Boston. the others, although good, are more niche marketers. known only by the more hardcore guys.
marketing has a lot to do with car audio sales, Quart and Boston are far more present than AVI or Macrom
