If you had to choose 3 brands to carry which brands would they be?? any brand does not matter

StewPiddass 06-23-2003 08:09 AM

Image Dynamics
Alpine

Logan Lundy 06-23-2003 09:19 AM

Rockford - wire/hardwear/speakers/amps/decks/subs
Apline - speakers/multi-media/decks/subs/amps
Kicker - Speakers/Amps/Subs

PerryB 06-23-2003 10:29 AM

I would carry Eclipse for one. They atleast have some protection against online sales(you can get many other brands damn near anywhere, for example).

Nomak 06-23-2003 10:38 AM

Alpine, Kicker, Eclipse ...

abnormal72 06-23-2003 10:57 AM

kenwood ........offers a full line including head units ....got something in everyone's price range.......

Xiph0id 06-23-2003 05:11 PM

JBL For the budget minded.
JL For those who want to spend a little more.
Pioneer I always have, I do have and will always use pioneer's decks.

Then of course I would have stinger for accesories.

X

Taylor Morley 06-23-2003 05:37 PM

Only 3 brands? Well I can think of a few brands I would carry, if I had a store.

JBL--Reasonably priced and I like them, about 80% of my system is JBL

Alpine--their products are popular and a good seller

JL Audio--well known

Cerwin Vega--Love anything by Cerwin, lol

MTX, Kenwood, Thump, Power Acoustik, MA would be other brands to consider if my first 3, opps looks like I have four, choices. Oh and of course all the installation brands and accessories would be a must.

RangerSVTSplash 06-23-2003 06:11 PM

if i had i store i carry everything so everyone could have a choice. ohh only three hey. mmmm

Alpine
BA= Beyound audio
jbl.

Am i the ONLY person who would take Rockford??

ChrisB 06-23-2003 06:41 PM

I'd probably want rockford, kicker and memphis

Derek Jerome 06-23-2003 07:19 PM

only reason I wouldn't take rockford is that they are sold by future shop and then I'd have to try and compete with them head to head on pricing ..........might be tough

Jimmy Black 06-23-2003 09:14 PM

1.Eclipse
2.Rockford
3.Kicker(Maybe)
4.JL

Blinddemonz 06-23-2003 10:06 PM

JL Audio
Phoenix Gold
Alpine

Lightning Audio - Wires and such.

bing 06-23-2003 11:03 PM

i would run a very small shop that catered to very few people, and would do prodominantly home audio but would also feature car audio.

home:
Mark Levinson
Musical Fidelity
Wilson Audio
Wisdom Audio
Mcintosh
Dynaudio
Adcom

Mobile:
Mcintosh
Dynaudio
Scosche
Brax
Focal

The store/studio would/will be located in a commercial plaza complex owned my myself and wouldnt really be a source of revenue.

it owuld just be the $hit to own the place.

bing 06-23-2003 11:06 PM

actually, add to that list:

B & O

i was at their place on Bloor the other day and it was pretty cool

kelticslob 06-23-2003 11:23 PM

JL, Eclipse, Focal.

Homer Jay 06-23-2003 11:29 PM

I would sell..

1)Alpine. Decks/Amps/Speakers/DVD/Nav Systems.
2)Rockford. Decks/Amps/Speakers/Wiring/ has some cheaper stuff for the teens too.
3a)JL. Amps/Speakers.
3b)Pioneer/Premier. Decks/Amps/Speakers

I would like to carry some Audio Control stuff and some higher-end stuff like MB Quart/Rainbow/Eclipse... but honestly the day to day business would be slow.

TomK 06-24-2003 05:10 AM

Interesting comment regarding online sales. I've been hearing that a lot lately from dealers we've been talking to............. a lot don't want to compete with online retailers.

Derek Jerome 06-24-2003 05:37 AM

of course they don't.........with the amount of extra overhead they have to run to be an actual store they just can't compete

rent, heat, stock, employee's, taxes, ect....all cost money ........online dealers have none of that .......

a lot of guys whine about the mark up stores make.......they just have no idea what it costs to run a storefront ....

ChrisB 06-24-2003 06:14 AM

There are always threads from people who always rant that shops are overpriced blah blah blah, and all of these people seem to believe they have a pretty good idea on what stuff "should" cost in a shop. With their great business sense, I believe 99% of them would fail at a retail shop within 6 months. Many of the posts I have seen were from people who think that if a shop pays $100 for a speaker, then selling it for $120 gives the shop a decent profit. Many have zero clue as to what is actually involved. The cost of carrying inventory is foreign to damn near all of them(nevermind the rent/insurance/taxes/electricity/advertising). I was amazed at what the local shop spends on advertising...damn!

Chadxton 06-24-2003 06:32 AM

Knukonceptz
Alpine
Diamond Audio

I gotta be different somehow. My second list is based on my setup of old school product:
Alpine (1999)
Sony Mobile ES
Cerwin Vega
They don't make them like they used to. :(

B&O rules along with nearly all the other stuff you mentioned. Very popular in Germany.

Well first of all---- Fosgate of course, like c,mon, really, youd have to be an idiot not to carry their product, plus you get dragster, and all their wires, really its a no-brainer

secondly, JBL, and im surprised that nobody else posted harmon as a pick, like that crown amp, thats pretty cool, plus the overall quality

and last but not least pyramid! simply the best! gotta love pyramid, or maybe prestige. always on the cutting edge

OMG let's just have all of us carry this mass marketed mediocre company that everyone knows. I'll limit myself to their decks and connecting accessories. Mind you many of their old-school products of amps were very good.

JBL maybe for home or pro audio.

LOL, I like your humour, guy. It's all good.

</font>
The local shop still deals RF, but they don't keep the decks in stock(they are ridiculously overpriced), and the shop also doesn't carry punch amps anymore, they carry the power amps(BB has the punch stuff anyway). There have been discussions as to why stay with a brand that has zero loyalty to the retailers who helped establish the brand in the area in the first place(and pathetic protection against rf stuff being d out online). I surely wouldn't feel the need to carry RF, and it isn't a matter of the quality of the product.
