I'm 2 hours north of tdot but I visit there once in awhile. I'd like to build my own sub box but I will need some wiring.

Btw is this overkill for me?

you can never really go overboard with wiring...do it right the first time and you won't have to waste money later upgrading. i may be missing it in the ad, but it doesn't say anything about the wiring? is it 8ga? 2ga? etc.

It's never overkill to run good wiring always, especially if you ever want to upgrade later to bigger stuff.

It's 4guage. I can get it for $240 but it still seems like a lot of money for just 500rms. I understand about upgrading later as I probably will get a 10w7 or 2 but wouldn't that require 0 gauge?

that does seem high to me. two 10" w7's is gonna be roughly 1500rms properly powered. you will need around 1/0awg over 11ft. so thats what i would be getting. get it at a local shop. then you can get exactly what you need, no more no less.

good wiring isn't cheap. but its essential, so no point in having a nice system if you can't properly power it.

well it all depends on what amp you are putting on that w7. yes 4awg would be fine properly powered though. im gonna go ahead and say that is peak power on that kit. i wouldn't buy it though. you are paying for the cap and everything + taxes etc
go to a local shop and just get what you need. you will save yourself money that way.

Yeah caps worth like 100 so 140 for a wiring kit basically. How much would a 0 guage roughly run me without a cap?

can't say. depends on how many feet you need, and depends on the quality of the wire.
and you can pick up a used cap dirt cheap that will do the job.
