why buy an amp with unrealistic power ratings like with 14.7 volts supply

at least jl dosn't decieve the consumer unlike 99.99% of all other companies

1000/1
Rated Power: 1000 W RMS @ 1.5 ohm - 4 ohm (11V-14.5V)

So I guess that by your own words, JL Audio also uses unrealistic power ratings then, seems they also rate at oh, look at that, 14.5V. Why not offer the customer more power at that level instead of 1000w from one of the most overpriced brands available in Canada?

I know for fact that my truck runs all day long at 14.4 even with a monster hydraulic system or a 15000 winch in use. And I have not even installed my HO alternator yet.

Yes there is alot of BS, that aside, it is up to the sales person to inform their customer so that the customer can make a educated and informed buying decision. The other companies may BS all they like, it is up to the person selling to set the record straight. I am sure that you do with your customers, it is also dead accurate to say that I do with mine.

.

rated voltage at 14.5 i will now ask who is misinforming the consumer and its not jl

also you seem to leave out its benifits

how about when your voltage sags that it still will produce its 1000 watts
seems you seem to leave alot of educating the consumer out of the equasion

Why not educate the customer as to the 12 volt rating in the first place then allow the customer to realize that a unregulated supply can and will produce more power if given more than 12 volts? If the customer has 14.4v no matter what, why not give the customer more power for less $. I am quite positive that all the SPL guys are most certainly not going to use a fully regulated amplifier to use in their systems. Robmar, we both have good and valid points, it is up to us to educate the customers to allow them to make the informed decisions.

Well, I don't know about your car, but my alternator most certainly supplies 14.4 and not 12.

do you attach your amp at the alternator
i know mines in the trunk
and most of the cars i've ever checked rarely produce more than 13.5 -13.75
and thats before a large load is added
thats using a calibrated fluke

Well I guess we can dispute the merits all day long one way or the other and both be correct.
