Everything pretty much comes from the US. A lot of car audio brands are American companies anyway, so if you're buying things local you're still indirectly buying from Americans.
sorry to break it to you bud but the majority of car audio is japanese
where do you get your stats
i get mine from industy magasines

Yes a lot of electronics are manufactured in Japan, but a lot of the North American distributers are based in the US, meaning a lot of the products come through the US first. This is the reason the products in question are priced lower in the US, less middlemen taking a piece of the pie.

However, why does it matter that I referred to the US? You are caught up on this because you obviously have ill feelings toward the US and argue on an emotional level as a result. Regardless, the products are coming from somewhere other than in Canada and I don't value any service the middleman (shops) can offer me. I prefer to buy driect, as I am an informed consumer. People like me should not be put down because we value low prices over customer service.

Again I will state I am NOT part of the target market of shops, whether they want to believe it or not. If they are suffering as a result of free trade and want to compete with the same value offering of international competitors, then it is time to find a competitive advantage on which to compete, as well as a new value proposition to consumers.
</font>
The Japanese companies might own the factories, etc, but nowadays, I rarely see any car audio pieces that say "made in Japan" on them. My most recent piece that indicates that is my RF 8250.

I say if anybody is close enough to the US border, drive across and pick up your stuff. You could also drive across, pick up your stuff and depending on what you buy, just install it in the US.

Bottom line, your points are contradicting. You want to keep our money here, yet it's ok to support Japan's economy by buying their stuff. As it was said before, many things that we use in Canada ultimately comes from somewhere else, so "buying Canadian" doesn't mean jack. Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of electronics that's Canadian and made in Canada. Besides, Canada's economy reflects on USA economy. If I buy from Future Shop, they buy from a distributor, and distributor gets it from a foreign country.
what i am refering to here is supporting the local infrastructure
you's people can't fathom that
i know that 99.9% of all car audio is made offshore
indonesia china korea and so on
im not saying that
im saying support your local dealer and distributor
there the the people who keep the money in your local economy and contribute more of it to our country

and as in our country reflecting the us
you may want to look at where we are now compared to them they are slipping we are climbing

and as in the american companys your refering to they don't do alot of business compared to the japanese company

the japanese made somewhere else product makes up the largest amout of sale you may think that jl rockford and so on do large business but they don't

This is goverment we're talking about - sometimes they'll charge you arm and leg. I swear they have this big wheel where they spin it and that's how they get their pricing - ridiculous.

Umm, I'm pretty sure Rockford is one of the most commonly sold car audio products in Canada, especially with the big box stores pumping it out.

You need to learn when you have lost an argument and just keep quiet. Keep on voting NDP if it makes you feel so patriotic to pay the wages of others, but do not put others down because they disagree with your left wing views.

If you feel so strongly about paying the wages of others, how about giving me some $ to supplement my salary. I need a nice set of new home speakers

I think some PG is manufactured in the US isn't it?

If it is US made, there will be no duty, and then you pay GST and PST on the value over $40 if shipped, or over $50 if brought across in person and you are there under 48 hrs, plus brokerage if it is shipped over. I

If it is manufactured outside of the US, then expect to pay around 5-8% duty on top of that.

And I DID NOT call anyone a loser. There you go again putting words in my mouth.
