can 8" drivers hammer?

Hey all

I just have a simple question that I have always wanted to know the answer to. I have always run 10" drivers or larger but I was always wondering if 8" subs can hit hard and sound good. I am sure that if enough of them were used they would but I am talking like 2 or 3.

Just wondering

Thanks

I've got 2 RE 8's in my girl's car on 400 watts and they hit pretty good for what they are... if you tune low enough I'm sure you'll find some sort of low end

The reason I am asking is because I am torn between 2 or 3 12" drivers or a wall of like 6 or 8 8" drivers for my truck and I am not sure which way to go. It will be the same price pretty much regardless just not sure what to do lol.

The RE 8" was inexpensive and a good performer. I have one and really liked it. I used to run 4 8" MTX subs in my car and could meter out in the low 140s.

I'm running a pair of 8w3 in my Ford f150 powered by Zapco DC 1000.1 and they can hit pretty hard. I was thinking of adding another one or two but the guy at the local stero shop suggested I try a ported enclosure first to try and get some more bottom end out of the two I have. I cross my subs over at 59hertz so maybe it is not a bad idea to try.
