I run similar setup speaker wise with ported Eclipse 12" sub only getting 60 watts if that right now from an old plate amplifier I have and it sounds damn nice for only 60 watts. So I'd go ported as mentioned above, and damn $600 to get 300 watt into 4ohm I'd rather stick with Plate amp get 360 watts@4ohm and spend 240$ after shipping.

is it going to be ok to go ported even though these amps dont seem to have a subsonic filter? or is the 'rumble filter' on this amp a subsonic filter:

I deal with a lot of pro audio gear. I can find used but mint brand name amplifiers that will do in excess of 2KW for $600 + tax.

Something like that should be enough power

ARRRGGH, Now I'm gonna get the "I told you so look"
*shrug* well we're here for sound advice right Dukk?
OK, yes the "Rumble" filter is an "Infrasonic"(erroneous to use subsonic) filter that will cut off typically at 15Hz. (nothing to do with being OK to drive the ported sub) so GIVE'ER !!

does anyone have any links to sites that explain the differences in car audio and home audio sub enclosures? I was told it will be completly different and would like to know about an enclosure for a 12" IDQ.

Thanks
