While I realize Caps are not a fix-it-all and cant replace a properly wired and amped charging system or a second battery but assuming everything is solid does a cap help an amp stabilize it's usage at all or is the amount of power potentially stored negligible and pointless?

I see conflicting opinions on this with little fact or experience with 'em so I was hoping a couple of the vets could comment on whether or not they use them and why.

I think it depends on how its used. I read an article once (really some "lectures" someone had written on them) that made me not go back to one. I used to run a 1 farad cap, but it only helps so much. Basically its like snapping your fingers, that is the time that the extra voltage is there for you.

If you listen to long bass notes you create a draw on the system that may, or probably will last longer than your cap can provide voltage for. If you listen to more fast paced bass like in rock music or something, it stands a better chance of helping because it will recharge rapidly, but if you like Bass Mechanic or Young Jeezy or something, it might not help you that much. Maybe a bigger one, but small caps I doubt would help.

I got rid of mine in the middle of a show and my score went up, since then I have not looked back.

Yeah, that was my thinking, to me it just seems like something in between the amp and your power with resistance, creating heat and generally lowering your input to the amp more than it's helping by giving a minor shot of power every few seconds, in between you're probably losing just as much.

But, these aren't facts, just my perception of them, if someone wants to argue that point, constructively, feel free xD
