series regulates amperage and parallel regulates voltage. if i remember correctly from college lmao could be wrong.

yes you can. it will double the capacitance value.. and double the surge current when you connect it to 12 volts.... use a resistor.

BTW.. a 12 volt car battery will provide a hell of a lot of current for much longer period than a capacitor... and cheeper too. And if you do not know how to calculate how long a cap or battery can provide current.. then you should get some help.

btw.. you could also simply rectify 120v mains.. and pulse them thru a transistor or other solid state switch.

 

I tried smaller 3.3F caps in parrallel and I never got a higher AMP surge. Although in series the voltage does double which helps a little.

I also tried a smaller tractor battery and could only get 5A. I must be an idiot.

I even tried rectifying my 120V mains, I actually used an old UPS. It didn't get me far either. Its my lack of control of the pulse which makes it difficult for me to manage and judge. I like these car audio caps, I think I'll finally get somewhere with them.

A fully charged car battery shorted can put out over 500 amps, and the arc created is the same as a welder and can burn your eyes. They create tremendous heat with that kind of current-big professional booster cables go up in smoke very quickly. I have welded with car batteries before. They will do all you want and more. Hook them in parallel for more reserve capacity or in series for more voltage, hence more current in a given load.
