In car DVD, why? Give me some reasons please.

Just looking at buying the AVH-P7500DVD from Pioneer, and I have to convince myself of the validity of having DVD in a motor vehicle. I understand the "cool factor" and I am a huge gadget man, but honestly.. why do people put DVD in their vehicles?? Discuss here.

1. Bragging rights
2. Kids
The fact that no music DVDs have come out yet (to my knowledge) you're just wasting time.
I am personally waiting for the DVD-A format to be finalized, then I let the enthusiasts with too much money buy all the preliminary sucky units. When the manufacturers find out what sucks about the units, they will produce far superior units for much cheaper ... then I will get one.
Unless you HAVE to have the gadgets, or if you have kids that you can't amuse with a little TV and an XBox or something, then go for it.

well it's knda neat but waaayy too expensive for me to consider it since I really have no use for it .....can't watch a movie while I'm driving
as for music on dvd .........there's quite a few concerts in both 5.1 dolby and dts
I have both the eagles hell freezes over and Nine inch nails all that could have been in DTS and both are excelent sound quality and mix ..........much better than the cd's IMO surround sound does wonders at recreating live events when properly mixed

Bling bling. They were originaly conceived as a multimedia control station. Navigation display and control, title display for discs and radio stations and easier sound adjustments due to the large screen and no tiny menus like a reg deck. Dvd viewing was just a bonus. Driving with the video of a dvd playing is retarded and when someone finally kills someone doing it and one of the companys get's their asses sued off because their "safety features" can be bypassed by a four year old, i think you'll see the market die down a bit. Cool for parked show cars though.
Also,
There are thousands of music video titles currently available on dvd ranging from live concerts to whole video collections of artists. And,in an effort to sell more cd's instead of losing the sales to piracy, a lot of new release cd's are packaged with bonus dvd's of videos/concert footage etc...
my 13 cents.

I have my 8 year old reason.. but it is going in my truck and not viewable from the back seat.. kind of kills that as an excuse.. unless I can do video in to the small 4 inch screen attached to my PSOne.. hmm..

my reason just turned 52
kept the pops outta my hair on the way to michigan. and he's a very finnicky passenger, i think i'd take a small child over him, i think.
seriously though these are my reasons:
-it cost the same as the cd deck i wanted, actually 200 less cause i got a deal. then i just had to get a screen
-shows, it's cool for the import scene, and when you go to classic shows, it's very unique, great way to meet ppl
-roadtrips, even listening to movies passes the time awesome. as long as you know the movie well just listening is enough
-cool factor, it's something none of my friends have
-upgrade potential, music videos, recordable dvd(should be able to be played on it), navigation, diagnostics, ps2, etc

DVD audio is definatly a cool feature that im really waiting to become main-stream, but have you ever noticed that it seems like your watching a movie for a really long time????? they're always about 2 hours, and on a trip from toronto to winnipeg 2 hours isnt very long! you would need like 13 DVD's! (9 if you watch the bonus footage!) and if it dosent have a headphone jack it can get really anoying to a driver.
I suggest video games and mp3 or wma format CD/R for long trips, you can get get totally lost in a good video game for hours, and the driver and the passengers can listen to cd's with 200 400 songs and not have to change media for hours!
just somthing else to think about!
