Choosing what system to go with?

I'm quite new to understanding car stereos and was wondering if I could get some feedback on 2 full installs that I've narrowed my choices to. Any advice on whether or not the following components would work well together would be greatly appreciated. The install would be done on a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix. I am looking for a higher end system that is VERY loud without distortion and has crystal clear sound quality (I mostly listen to a lot of newer top 40 music, classic rock, some rap & hip/hop). I also prefer all/most of my components to be the same brand.

-1-
Speakers - Focal K2-165KR (front) 80W RMS
Focal Polyglass 690-CVX (rear) 80W RMS
Amps - Focal Solid 1 (mono) 300W RMS (4 ohm)
Focal Solid 4 (4 ch) 75W RMS (4 ohm)
Sub - Focal 33V1 (13") 400W RMS
Deck - Pioneer AVICX920BT

-2-
Speakers - JL C5-650 (front) 75W RMS
JL C2-690tx (rear) 70W RMS
Amps - JL XD600/1 (mono) 400W RMS (4 ohm)
JL XD 400/4 (4 ch) 75W X 4 RMS
Subs - JL 10W1V2-4 (10" X 2) 50W - 300W RMS

If there's something else I should keep in mind when choosing that I may be missing, it would be of great help, Thanks a lot.

Looks like either way is a good choice for what you're wanting. I figure you'll be spending the same amount of money on either setup, so I don't think you'll get much help here apart from fanboys trying to sway you either way.

The Focal amp may be weak for the choice for the sub. That's all I can pick out.

Thanks for pointing that out, I never even noticed, lol. So do you think I should go with a less powerful sub or think about a more powerful amp. What to look for when matching subs and amps still confuses me, should the RMS wattage nearly match, or should the amp be more powerful than the sub RMS rating?

You'll never have too much power, as long as you know how to control it, so get a more powerful amp if you're going to pick the Focal setup.

For my setups, I always choose 50-100% more amp power than the sub ratings. It's my personal choice. It isn't wrong to go on a watt for watt basis for amp/sub, but the key to having cleaner sound is more power.

Just curious as to why you need to have all the components match?

Just a personal preference, like everything to match, it's more aesthetics than anything. If my sound quality is gonna take a hit because of it, I would consider mixing brands of course.

Mixing might save you some money (as would buying "previously enjoyed").

If you don't care about the costs.....match away.
