Hi all I'm new to all this so a somewhat dumb question. I'm putting a Clarion 845 in my Miata in the spring. I have an amp in it already but I'm adding headrest speakers. Reading the Clarion manual it states that I switch between using the internal amp or an external amp. I want to do both. I plan on using the internal amp to drive the headrest speakers and not lose my eardrums and the amp to power door speakers etc. My question is has anyone had experience with this unit running both internal and external together? I would think the line outs would be live no matter what but reading the manual confuses things.

This being winter the car is in storage so I can't experiment and I'm trying to line everything up in advance. Thanks for any help. Mark

Based on previous experience, most decks can run both at the same time. Some people actually use the internal amp for their mid/high speakers and use the preamp connected to the external amp for the subs. Usually for more modest budgets, but I expect you should be able to do the same. I/m sure a clarion expert on this board will let you know for sure.

Thanks Dave. I thought all along this was the case but the manual confuses the issue making it seem that the user had to choose between the two. Great to have the answer, now I'll go ahead with plans for the spring. LRR
