Clarion and flexibility

Well
Again, so many choices. But for the price, the clarion dpx1001.2 is going to be my choice. I know the owner, it'll have warranty (he works at a shop) and if something goes wrong...I know where he works! Ha. I think it'll do the job. And I found out the amp fuse(s) are internal (if they go, it has to be returned = lame?). Otherwise, I should be a little more basshappy now...

thats cool, but if you are worried about warrenty the boss amp has empty warrenty card with a 6 year warrenty, and if a fuse goes you just have to take off the heatsink, there is really no need send it in to the shop, one thing that gets me about the memphis amps is the fuses are on the bottom of the amp, so if they go I have to unmount them to change the fuse...

Right on. I just picked up my wiring for my setup (going from 4/8 to 0/1/4). All new distr blocks (PG), an Orion ANL 150A fuse/holder, a new amp (the clarion dpx1001.2) and a cap (finally). A nice springtime install coming up...

I had a clarion amp back in the day...I used it for like 2 days and took it back and traded it in for a Rockford 360a2...the Rockford was rated at less power but did circles around the Clarion amp...although that was back in the days when Rockford stuff was half descent...I daily drove that thing at 2ohms for a long time and it was awesome for a little amp

Yes
I do believe the newer Clarion stuff is much better. Rockford has always been good to go, but here's some food for thought (told to me by some local dealers): the product you get at a local car audio dealer and that which you can get at the local large retailer (Future shop, etc.) are different. In order to meet the large retailer's demands (quantity, but mainly price), the manufacturer makes a different (perhaps only slightly?) product for said large order retailer. Now this has been told to me by a few car audio shops, so I'm just passing on some food for thought. This is why I'm told there's often quite a price difference (on top of the fact that say, Future Shop orders a 250 RF 1000.1bd's and the local shop only orders like 2 dozen). Also, this is why you don't (usually) see the 'top' brands at the large retailers (Zap, JL, etc.) Has anyone heard the same? Let me know...
