Cool Completly Lost

Hey,
I just got my car and want to put some sound into it. Ive got infinity door speakers already but want a deck and two twelves. Any info on what I should put into it would be greatly appreciated and ive got around $800 to spend on everything(deck, subs, box, and amp)
Please tell me there is hope out there.
I was thinking two JBL 12" GTO1202D would do as they are $155.99 a piece and a box is $89.99
What amp would be needed to power this and any good decks with an aux input in the $200 range? i know they are out there im just looking for preferences or comparisons.

Much Thanks for any help on this one

You should be fine with your $800. I would suggest putting a lager percentage of your budget into your amp though. Consider a single 10" or 12" sub in a custom box with as much power as you can fit in your budget. If you need a hand with any of this let me know. I drive a Neon and I also live in Cambridge.

Okay if i were to get the Alpine 12" SWR-1222D what amp would you recommend? Its got 1500W peak power.
And does the box make that much of a difference? Ive seen $50 boxes and $200 boxes...is there that much of a difference???

Thanks again

Good bass response is all about the box, screw up on it and no sub is worth anything at all. I too would go the custom box route and then choose the sub and amp to match. Interested in a quote?

nice a fellow sx 2.0 I see. the peak power quite honestly dont mean . Always the rms power that is the REAL number. The box can normally be quite crusial to your bass, sound etc. LOL u in ont, there are so many neon runnin in ont, should be easy to get decent box. if I was you, I would prob get some package from a store, you can get decent at stores. The JBL stuff is decent stuff. You could also talk to a vendor on here, such as>

his name is garett, he sells RD audio, and he is in peterborough!
you could also talk with these guys>

Kevin, this guy most certainly is not a vendor here on the site at all. Here is the link to the vendors on the site who pay to be a vendor here.

Get 2 Premier Subs , they can take about 1100 RMS and the sound pretty good for starters their nice subs. You can get them for about 220$ Pair .

Personally, I don't think your $800 budget will get you two 12's, and an amp sufficient enough to power them, a box made to house them, and your deck... Unless you find deals on used equipment. Is the $800 want you want to spend before, or after tax?

I would suggest a single 12" subwoofer. Either a DVC 4 ohm (to wire in parallel), or a SVC 2 ohm model. You could probably find someone on here to build you a custom enclosure for about $100.

Pioneer TS-W1207D2|D4 ~ 12" DVC 4 ohm. 400W RMS

Alpine SWS-1243D ~ 12" DVC 4 ohm. 300W RMS

I would suggest an amp that can supply 300-500W @ 2 ohm. Here's a few amps that'll work, but aren't necessarily suggestions.

Clarion APX1301 400W x 1 into 2ohm

Hifonics Brutus BXi 608
1 x 300 W @ 2ohm

MTX TC4001 400W x 1 @ 2ohm

Pioneer GM-D7400M 400W x 1 @ 2ohm

Kenwood KAC-8104D
500W x 1 @ 2ohm

You're looking at $125-$150 for the single 12" sub. $225 to $275 for the amp. $100 for a properly made, tuned enclosure. $150-$250 for a decent deck with a sub pre-out.

Assuming you bought the least expensive equipment, you're looking at close to $700 after taxes. That doesn't include install, or the wiring/hardware you're going to need. If you opt for more expensive equipment, that $800 will be used up pretty quick.

Take your time. Have a listen. You could save a few bucks on a single 10", and a sealed enclosure. But don't buy something in haste, only to regret it later.
