correct wiring for 1ohm amp...
If i remember right (and it has been a long damned time) If i want to go down to 1ohm its easiest with 2 dual voice coil subs. But what ohm rating should the subs be for this setup. They will be in a seal enclosure, i'm sure I remember it should be 2 x 4 ohm subs then wiring across from neg to pos across the dual terminals on one side. Also I know a lot of questions have been answered on here on what ohm's you should be running your syystem at, I know lower ohm's is a lot harder on amps, but doesn't it degrade sound quality as well? Just another thing stuck in my head from 10 years ago that I can't remember if its true or not
Alright, I have a question along this same line too. I've got a PRS-D1200M mono amp that IS 1 Ohm stable. Having said that, I also have a pair of 10 inch DVC subs with 4 Ohm per coil, that I can easily wire to produce 1 Ohm at the amp. The problem is that my amp manual says I shouldn't do that, even though it IS 1 Ohm stable, and tells me that if I use a single 1 Ohm sub I'm fine. Frankly I don't understand. It's not like the amp can distinguish whether or not I'm using my 2 subs to create a 1 Ohm load or if I'm using a single 1 Ohm sub right? At the end of it all there are only 1+ and 1- running from it, so what difference should it make HOW I produce that 1 Ohm load...SO CONFUSING :S
