A guy I know is looking to get some gear installed.. he asked me what it should run, but Iam not really that sure...

The install is in a 92 mustang that is being restored and suped up...

He wants:

3 10s in the rear deck, kickpanels for 5.25 components, 6.5" midbass in the doors with some work to make the door panels look nice, everything has to be deadening and the trunk sealed from the cabin, including a cover for the trunk lid... amp racks with fans & plexi cover in the spare tire well with a monoblock and a 4ch. alpine... Optma yellow in the trunk and 2/O wire... alpine HU that will need to be properly setup (time allign & EQ), and he also has some neons/leds... I recommended some special wiring for the subs so he can adjust QES, or switch to spl when showing off...

He pretty much has everything he needs including all the gear, deadening, carpet, and MDF...

I figured around $2k for labour at your average shop ?

^ Or some shops out there the convo would go like this:

Sales guy: Sup, bra?

Owner: Hey. I got a sweet 5-oh I'm doing up and I need the bling system. Gotsta kick it hard and sound like vanilla. Hook me up with (see description above)

Sales guy: (interrupting before description from owner is done) 20 large.

Owner: 20 large?

Sales guy: Yep, 20 grand before we look at it.

is that all $400 to deaden everything? great I can't wait.. wow.. this professional install stuff isn't nearly as expensive as I thought.. I thought full dynamat would run $1400 at least.

hmmm.. have to add that to the list.

How much for a fairly mild back seat install for a single 15" and an amp install including neons?

^^^^^ 400 is just labor, PLUS the cost of the sound deadener, and that price also depends on how big your car is...

should be deciding what you want to spend , before you pick all the parts , doncha think?

Buy the install first, and let your installer decide what works. I hate it when guys get their heart set on "3 10s," or whatever, and then can't afford to do it right, so they end up with a hack job car full of crap, instead of one good sub.

Yep...20 large is probly about right unless you want to cut corners...lots of corners.....k...mostly all the corners.

Um you DID say "complete" install right?

You want carpet, vinyl, or paint for the pieces.

KPs: $400-500-600
Doors: $400-800-1800-5,000
Back Deck: $500-600-2500+
Deaden everything: $400-600-1500
Trunklid cover: $400-800-1500
Spare tire well: $500-1000-3000+
Trunk Battery: $200-400-500
Deck install and setup: $200....yep
Light and extra bling: $400=2,0000
Wire and cable :200-1000
Material: $500-2000+
Research and thinking time to make it sound just a bit better :$500- 2000+

It's more a matter of what you're NOT going to get, than what you are getting, that makes for good choices on spending the cash.
