I need to crimp some 0/1 gauge ring connectors on to some 0/1 gauge power cable (go figure!).

I understand that a crimping tool is probably the best option here but I don't have one. Is there another "make do" option? If not, where can I get a good crimping tool?

Thanks,

Lawrence.

By the way...is there any particular type/size of solder I should be using.

Thanks again,

Lawrence.

solder the wire first, then put on the crimp, and stick it in a vice and clamp down.

actually if you put the wire in a vise, slide the ring terminal on and take your torch and apply the flame to the ring terminal it will heat the terminal and the wire at the same time, apply the solder to the wire and the heat will melt the solder and suck it down into the cable, once it is soldered enough you will end up with a shiny "cap" on the open part of the ring terminal.....................

if it is a closed end ring terminal then put the terminal in a vise and heat the terminal up and fill it half full of melted solder then slowly stick your wire into the melted solder, as you push the wire in it will suck the solder up inside...............
