Crossover question
I am thinking of adding on some 5 1/4 or 6 1/2" mids in my doors. I am also thinking of running a 1/2 DIN EQ/Crossover. Would I be better off running the mids off of the passive crossovers that they come with, or would it be alright to bandpass them, say from 60hz and up through the electronic crossover, and let the passive crossover cut off the top end. This way the mids don't have to play the lowest notes that my sub(s) will be taking care of. Will this work o.k.? Thanks....
Thank you gents. DUKK I am looking at the cadence ceq-650. Here is the info:
"The CEQ650 combines a 3-way electronic crossover and a 4 band narrow "Q" Parametric EQ. Additional adjustments include a System Fader, Master Volume, Subwoofer Volume, and an adjustable subwoofer low pass crossover. Auxiliary inputs with independent level controls can be used for CD signal input. The CEQ650 also features a 7 volt line driver for a clear crisp noise-free signal to amplifiers."
Not quite sure what you meant by making sure that it is a true 2 way crossover, did you mean to check that isn't just an EQ?

So say I run the output from 60hz and up to the inputs of the passive crossover, the tweeter output of the passive will still play from 4000 and up, or whatever it is rated for, the 60hz cutoff will not cause problems? Sorry for the confusion....
