So I wanted to pick up an In Dash DVD real bad (Alpine IVA-310) and I was told that they can't be played when the car is on UNLESS it's in park, parking brake is on, and your foot is on the brake... is this for real? When your car is on you can only play it if your foot is on the brake?? I would figure that'd get real annoying..

Also, what's a better deck, the IVA-D310 or the IVA-D360 ?

I believe it can be by-passed using a special harness or something...check with an Alpine dealer, and I think it's illegal to have it playing while driving in some areas. I just hope you're not planning on driving and watching dvds!

Yes that is true, when the car is in motion you can only listen to music etc.

Its a safety issue not to drive with it on

But wink, wink you buy one of these and your probs are fixed.

I havent seen the IVA-D360 yet but the 310 is pretty nice.

it's a dumb Idea, but grounding out the parking brake wire should do the trick....

Not with the newer alpine's. They require a parking brake/footbrake sequence.
The PAC TR-7 will bypass this.

</font>[/QUOTE]I see... at least they haven't gone as far as what Pioneer has done with the latest N2... I still think it's dumb to be watching movies while driving, but if I buy the equipment, I should be able to decide how I want to use it...

you dont need to have the bypass thing to make it work. there are 2 wires that you have to put a switch and a button on it and it will work the same. but it is a great deck
