my new panasonic deck came with a DC/DC converter...not a clue what it is for, its a little silver box with a secondary wiring harness that runs to it...its easy to unplug but the manual said to only install the converter with the aid of a professional...what is it for and should i install it?

It is a noise 'elimination' device, it should prevent the Panasonic from ever being the source of any noise in your system. This is usually only found on the better head units.

Noise is like an intelligent germ, as soon as you find one way of stopping it, it adapts and finds new ways to infuriate the owner.
