what do u guys think about having a 12" DD 500 series sub hooked up to that alpine, the infinity kinda scares me its way too loud, and i hate to see the alpine collecting dust on my desk caus that was a killer amp
DDs whole philosophy is to try and extract as much output with the smallest amount of input.
The 500 Series is designed to take up to 600w of pure music or 1k+ on burps. This being said, it was designed to play the most efficient at the lower power levels due to it's ultra-light moving mass. It will play louder and cleaner at the 1w - 600w level than the other Kappas.
The DD 500s stick with a single voice coil design to reduce the wire winding weight. The Kappas dual voice coils (or any dual VC) require overlapping the windings and increases the weight of the voice coil. (Yes, grams counts when your trying to max out effieciency)
The 500s also stay with a 2" voice coil and minor voice coil cross drilling to keep things light again. It also aids in power handling and thermal cooling.
Cones are a pressed paper cone and, to this day, still have the optimum strenght/weight/cost ratio. The Kappas have the fiberglass cone which will probably be a lil stronger, but at any power, will weight it down.
The best bet to maximize your amp would be to get 2 x DD500 10s or 2 x DD500 12s (space dependant) to use the Alpine amp. Bridge the 4 channels to output to 2 channels. Run 1 x 500 off of each pair of channels bridged.

to bridge it like that i would have to get RCA splitters caus theres RCA inputs for every channel, and i could be wrong but it would make sence that the input strength from the head unit would be cut in half, half to each bridge so wouldnt that end up being the same? sorry if that made no sence, i havnt had a lot of physical experience with this stuff
any idea how much the DD500 12" would cost, i cant find much info on them
