What are some alternative to dynamat(and similar products) to use for sound deadening? I have heard before that some ppl use tar paper in place of brand name deadening products. What about just some rubber mat? Would that work alright?

Try the search function.. there have been a tonne of threads on this lately.

Or, to save yourself a bunch of time, click on the "B-Quiet" link on the left hand side of your browser. You can't go wrong with them!

Do a search. I assure you that you'll mostly waste your time with 'cheap' substitutes. Get the right product for the application (recommend: B quiet or rammat BXT). Cheers.

Caliber dampening products are also an excellent choice!
