Decided to get a Alpine 9855
#2
i have one. what do u want to know? its got its ups and downs.
as any alpine deck the settings are hard to work and are very none user friendly.
the deck has a touch/scroll panel which is kinda cool, u just drag your finger across to flip thru the menues, etc.
looks cool with a nice, big display. cd takes long to eject.
makesure u read the manual on how to operate all the menues and settings as they are very not user friendly.
its ipod ready which is cool
3 rca outs 4v
face tilts and can change colour
disk read delay is very minimal which is very nice
dont ask me about sound quality b/c every single deck in the world sounds the same to me......

I have used the deck, I found the menu's a lot easier to navigate than Alpine rugula not graphical interface, but the Glide Touch is total crap... useless POS IMO, other than that, the deck is a solid performer.

Considering the fact that the Glidetouch is something that you will use pretty much all the time, why pay for something that Alpine knows is problematic? Look at all the new decks, IIRC, all but one no longer have Glidetouch. Worst thing that they have done in years as far as I am concerned. If you can look past the total uselessness of this control and how you will use it pretty much every time you do something, then the deck is a performer. Personally, my eyes belong on the road as compared to wondering what magic thing the Glidetouch just did and have to look to see.
