could have been done without removing the windshieild but taking it out sure made it easier

Yea, I figured as much, I wish it was fairly simple to re and re a windsheild...because I'm considering it for my car.

I'd like to leave it in there if possible, but it may not be an option.

Should be cool, Dave. For the flat fiberglass sections making up the top piece of the dash, were those made by just laying down mat on top of a sheet of wood or something?

How hard was it to take the windshield out? You going to try to put it back in yourself or have a shop do it?

You could just get a mobile glass shop to come by your house and remove it for you, then re-install when you need it...

myself and another guy took it out and it sucked, had to be really careful not to break it. a glass shop will reinstall it. we did it ourselves before i had a chance to change my mind, but in the end it saved hours

the 1/4 inch of mat was laid 6 layers thick and themn resined, it was done on a piece of mdf covered in car wax

Dave, for god's sake, make sure that you have private insurance through BCAA or similar with no limits on the theft and collision portion. Stellar work dude.

Just a thought.................3M Green painters tape is cheaper then Duct Tape and doesn't leave that NASTY glue residue every where................

Quick question Dave, have you been able to spend any listening time with that front dash yet? Would hate to have the dash almost done and then to find out it sounds like poo. Not saying that it will, but with all the pics, I haven't seen any with equipment hooked for a "sound test" so to speak. Just wondering if you had any time to audition the speaker placement and such.

defro13 03-19-2005 06:46 PM

like i said earlier, there was a ton of pre build testing done to get an idea of wheather it would be worth it. the speakers were tested in the boxes we wanted to build, then the same size boxes were built and listened to in the car. different locations for tweeters were experimented with but the final resting place for them wiil be dtermined when the dash mids are in and the winshield is in(the testing was done with windshield in)

tim, i love duct tape, the 3m tape is very good though

the dash should be completed next week, i have had some of the panels upholstered and the material is cool
