Dave, I'm a sucker for symetry. I love cars with a consistent theme throughout the install. So for me, the real question would be what can you use in the front that can be carried over to the back?

leather, or matched vinyl, im a real symetry guy too but am torn as to the material to use, when in doubt, classic vinyl always looks good

My father has extensive experience covering pretty much everything you can think of in Leather. I've talked to him about this before, and his advice is to use a leather-look, stretch vinyl.

I realize you are trying to do something new, and eye catching. So...I'm going to give away an idea that I may be doing myself. The success of it's implementation is in the details.

Wood and Leather (the vinyl stuff)

I've seen this combination used before, and it's absolutely stunning if you get the wood grain and pigmentation right to complement the leather.

To do the wood part, a combination of veneer and solid wood pieces would need to be used to match the complex contours and angles present in a car. Basically, you would use solid wood to form angles or corners, and then run the veneer right against the wood block to cover less contoured areas. It's really hard to match the grains of the wood and the color, but it pays off in fanstastic detailing. The hard part, is that once you lay the wood peices and veneer, humidity becomes an issue. Being in a somewhat tempurate climate, this will be an issue for you. I would recomend getting aged wood and veneer to aviod shrinkage or expansion.

Old school, go watch some Cheech and Chong movies and get inspired.

I am a big fan of high quality vinyl. It looks good, holds up to abuse and is easy to clean. Otherwise Alcantara is in vogue right now.

IMO a trunk should be finished in trunk materials. I can appreciate vinyl and leather but prefer carpet there.

10 g's in amps a 6g's in processor and 15 hun in woofers upholstered in carpet, 2 things i can guarantee you, i will never intentionally spear myslef in the head with a pickaxe and i will never unpholster the neon's trunk in carpet
