DEH-P7900BT where to put the Mic?
Hey Guys. I have been member for a while but not really posted. I have a Pioneer DEH-P7900BT in my Ford Focus and I wish to install the Mic in a convienient location. Where in the car would I get the best pick up from the mic, without a lot of road noise? Should I put it in the A pillar, center console, dash? The cable for the mic must be at least 10' long so that isn't going to be an issue.
Any input you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I was asked to put one at the top of the A pillar once. It worked, but I never called the guy unless I knew he was home so I don't know if he had to put his window up to talk or anything. I've also seen it it tucked in the headliner and set right where the rear view mirror is. Works well there too, except with that I find I listen to myself echo when that guy calls me, and I guess because its a little further away you're brain tells you to speaker loud, and though it sounds like you're yelling the person the other end will hear you speaking normally. If I had to pick, I'd say A pillar or the region around your visor. Or maybe at the top of your seatbelt, but then you'd definitely need to roll up the glass to talk in good weather.

What about mounting it on top of the steering wheel column? Not sure what year of Focus you have, but I have mounted mics there before and it worked well. I've toyed with the idea of fabbing up a "pod" from fiberglass to make it cleaner, but never actually was motivated enough to do it

I have the Pioneer FH-P800BT. I put my mic just to the right of my rear view mirror. I have had no problems in this spot. It is actually the recomended spot for the mic. They say the A-pillar might pick up some road noise. Let us know what you end up with.
