also, you need funtionality. when your everyday joe sees a demo car he envisions himself driving in it. but half of the cars you see are so "delicate" that you couldn't drive on a normal street without screwing it up. they should make a demo car that could actually be used as a daily driver.

Several ideas here...
1:A Smart
2:A classic muscle car
3:An average everyday car with a totally stealth, but kickass system
4o a system in car on a limited budget...and not like $10,000 either....Put together a system that is of competition level(SQ or SPL)that the average joe can put togther him/herself...Would be a great way to get people out to more comps

Good feedback guys...
I guess the consensus is to build something that actually sounds good and forego the fancy 'show install'.
The problem is, the purpose of a demo car is to attract attention. Do you think anyone would notice a seemingly stock car with a nice stereo?

^ I agree.
The sleeper look is in right now, well always has been.
You gotta focus on making the car itself look stock and at the same time modified if that makes any sense at all.
I personnally love the blacked out look...tinted windows, a nice set of black rims with maybe a little tiny bit of chrome on them somewhere. Under the hood HAS to be clean. Heat wrap always looks cool around headers and hoses...I'm so sick of seeing chrome headers...you know the car doesn't get driven just by looking at them, and then I think to myself"what's the point"? and walk away. I'm also sick of seeing blowers poking out the hoods of some of the greatest muscle cars ever created. Who puts an 8/71 on a Cuda?
I think, next to the BMW 850, the ultimate car I'd like to see done as a demo car would be a Buick Grand National....because there's nothing cooler than a V-6 making more horsepower than alot of V-8's make, plus there so damn cool looking.

Like many others have said, let's get back to something focused on the sound quality, FORGET THE VIDEO, and do a classic stealth install that looks stunning when the panels are removed (good chance for motorization there). Just like the installs were from the mid 90s. Had a black carpeted or vinyled trunk with covers in place and underneath was either painted fiberglass, or mirror, exotic materials, things like that. And craftsmanship has to be superior.
As for a ride, something exactly like this but with a bit more visual appeal to the install:

I'm totally down with the 850i, I don't know why but I get whiplash every time one of those drives by. The problem with a sleeper demo car is it doesn't appeal to the masses. We are tierd with the flash factor, and into the purity of sound and craftsmanship. Average joe however, would walk right on by, and go straight to the alpine civic.
I say a Ponitac Aztec with a wall of pyramid 6x9's, everyone will have to stop and scratch their heads when they see that!
