Demo Cars
#51
the sixteen year olds who are attracted to a flashy car generally don't have the money to spend on good gear, so volume is a big issue. but the people who are real enthusiasts will be attracted to the nicer, more elegant demos.
Product demos: flashy sells product.
Shop/Installer demos: class, and elegant sells.

Islandphile, was the Focal distributor owners car (either Larry or Phil, probably Larry) a silver newer Nissan Altima? Had a funky looking custom center channel? I listened to that car last year. Didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary, but that's just me It sounded good, but didn't wow me.

The preformance aspect must be watched carfully, case in point, I was at alot of shows this year with the Pioneer's car, they had the hood open and everyone came over to view it, the paint on that thinks great too, but I never did see what it had inside? I never saw anyone else look either.. looked like a huge waste to me, got attention ya but the wrong attention for selling products.
I'd say keep it funtional, these days fiberglass is cool but doesen't wow people, get people into your demo and let them hear and see it, whats with this 10 foot rope around cars?
this may sound dumb but I think a tricked out van that seats 10 and slamed on the ground would be a great demo, put in 10 guys for 10 min play some movies let them judge the product for them selves and put another 10 in
Its comming back too( the vans ) just look at any truck mag.
I have 1 idea tucked away that would blow minds but it isen't going to happen this year so I'll keep that one

i agree with sux , i listened to the focal altima, after larry told me it was all this and that, and thought it was average at best, then came the larry excuses about the alpine cd player not working right or something of that nature, whatever, thats larry. i think what this post boils down to is that its impossible to make a demo car that will appeal to all people, future, present and past consumers

I had an oppertunity to buy a VERY unique and rare car to use as a comp car. It would have been so very cool as far as install goes. Its a 1997 VW Golf "Harlequin" edition.
Imagine the possibilities. Different colored vinyl and glass. Even painted product. Gives things a little unique touch.
I know a 1997 Golf isn't tops on peoples list when they think of cool cars, but I think it would have been somthing more original than your standard car/install.
