Dessicant for sealed enclosure?
Hey guys, I've got an uncommon question. I've noticed at times when removing a sub (usually cheaper ie MTX 6000 series, old pioneer...) from a sealed box that there is corrosion that occurs on the polished (and non polished for that matter) magnet area.
My question is would you think this is due to humidity in the box, which leads to rusting and corrosion on the magnets, moreso when it gets hot and the corrosion occurs more readily? Would you think that dessicants such as silica packets or some anhydrous salts would be useful in drying out the air and preventing this from happening? And lastly, would drying the air too much cause the spider to dry out, or anything else?
Anyway, that was my question for the day,
Fabiano.

Electotronic manufactures in order to save money, do not "wash" the component after being assembled. The solder and other materials used in the sub are corrosive. That't why, some components have a white lines that looks like corrosion or water damage. Cheers...

I have never had rust on a sub ever ... or even corrosion. Where I live, 100% humidity days are very common too.
I would think that dessicants would not help fix your corrosion problem. A little grease on the area in question would probably fix that.

Maybe a box of Arm+Hammer to help with those nasty burnt voice coil odors
If you think you have moisture problems I'm sure a small desicant pack wouldn't hurt. Or like EC jr suggests, some 3in1 to coat the metal will help.
