Question DLS Speakers..Opinions?

Hey,

has anyone hear heard a set of DLS Gothia 6.3 or UP36i?

Gothia

UP36i

I'm considering a 3-way set in the near future and the prices on these are decent (authorized dealer links above) and I've read some good things about them but does anyone have any experiece with them or have personally heard a set?

The local shop reccomended a 2-way Hertz High energy set up for the power I have, but for $446 after taxes and I'd rather jump into a 3-way for a smidge more.

They would, potentially, be ran off a Kicker ZX 850.4

Thanks!

Consider the CDT CL 642 3-way setup that is hard to beat for the dough.

I've worked with the stuff a lot. You can get good results with their gear but it takes work and you have to know what you're up against to get the install right. DLS also has a very Euro sound to my ears......... .dry and very mid-level home audio-ish.

All depends what you want. My advice to anyone is ALWAYS have a listen to the stuff BEFORE you buy it. If you like it, then who cares what others think. It's your system. but don't buy on name alone.

Thanks for the feedback!

I have not heard a DLS set up before.... I have actually only heard a Hertz 3-way and I don't quite care for it, the highs were insanely harsh but it had some nice midbass.

Too bad you're not in the Toronto area as then you could have a listen. Recommend listening as you may not like them actually.

Check out the Hybrid Audio stuff as well.

I also can't listen to a CDT set up, woudn't know where to look....

Is this the Hybrid site?
http://www.hybrid-audio.com/products.htm

They have nothing on prices and I can't see (can't find) a three way on there as one is "coming" or at least the Xover is.

***I see Sound Solution carries them as well, better information on their site.

Update on Hybrid: looks like a no as their 3-way set up is $1,000....

The best speakers I personally owned was a set of Helix Avantgarde, I think it was the silk tweeter I loved so much and they were way more punchy in midbass than my current set up, which is almost 0 midbass...

Helix Avantgarde
3 Layer PMI Cone with Aluminum Deposit Layer
25 mm Silk Dome Tweeter with Phase Plug
12 dB/Octave Crossovers with Integrated Tweeter Protection and Level Adjustment
Cont. Power 70 Watts
Impedance 4 Ohm
Sensitivity 90 dB 1W/1m
Frequency Range 62 - 25000 Hz

Updated question.

Might be impossible to answer but has anyone heard a set of Helix 636 avantgardes?

Reason is that those have been the BEST set of speakers that I have owned and I liked them better than my buddys 3-way Focal so if anyone has heard a set I would love to know whats comparable.

****, speaker shopping is hard as there isn't a lot to demo in town without the crazy sticker price. Hertz HSK 163 was also told for me to check out, I might be able to listen to a pair from the local dealer but not sure.
