Do I need extra insurance for my gear?

will standard theft coverage on my car policy cover my $3000 in gear?

I guess the answer is call them to find out.

Call them up. With most places I have dealt with the limit is 1000-1200. They usually require recipts for everything if you get jacked. Plus you have to pay a decutible, of 300-500 bucks.

I had extra insurance on my system for a while, but it was like 200ish a year.

in ontario, the law says that they only have to cover 1200 or 1500 in gear... I think it's 1500. after that, you're SOL unless you have more coverage. lets face it, even if you have reciepts, they'll want to investigate 15 ways till sunday, because they'll deny your claim if they can.
