Depends on what you have right now?
If you're running 5 or something up front, sure I'd imagine you probably do need mb.

give us more info please.

Do you need a midbass woofer? NO. Do you need midbass? YES. Atleast if you want your car to sound good.

midbass is the 'satisfaction' region, when you hear good midbass you say to yourself wow that sounded (insert word) powerful, emotional, fun, real, satisfying, warm. If you dont have it you will hear (insert word) thin, light weight, nasal, good HF, lean. This is what the FM DJ voice emphasises.

right now I have focal 5.25 inch component in the door panels and 6.5inch components in the rear was thinking of getting kicker's R6 or rmb6 for midbass are they any good as I've read they were/are shitty.

Kickers are crappy. And so are the Focals, if they are Access line. But if those Focals are above Access, and in good working order, then you are probably fine.

Not that I have much experience, I would have to say that midbass comes down to install. If you just put your drivers into the factory locations and expect it to have it, likely you won't. Making pods for your speakers will give you a better thump. Listen to a speaker in an audio shop that is mounted in an enclosure (its usually sounds pretty good, lots of midbass) then put that same speaker in your cars factory location, can you hear the difference?

I never had much luck with the DD midbasses but many people have and totally love em. I think I wanted them to play higher than most people would so probably just not the right speaker for the job, I'm guessing if they weren't goin to be playing over about 250Hz you wouldn't be disappointed.
