Im in Ottawa, trying to find some for my MDF baffles and rings, and to deaden the area around my components. I have seen stories of the clay under heat melting and oozing wax and oil onto the speakers. I would rather that not happen. I went to Home Depot, kid had no idea what I was talking about. Any ideas?

 

duct seal is very very messy when it heats up... ummm try stuff like dynamat maybe? or save money and use some expanding foam...VERY carefully

 

I agree that moulding clay has issues with heat, IDEAL brand duct seal doesn't break down with heat or cold though it will become more pliable in summer and stiff in winter. To find it from a retail or wholesale activity I would do a google search for ideal duct seal. I have 10 lb in each door and it is where I put it 3 years ago (we are currently enjoying a week of 97 degree heat)

I have 50 pounds in my garage and it is unaffected by the 120+ in my garage this year and last. It is the standard product for the acoustic testing industry and I cant recommend it enough. crap if you want I could send you a couple bricks (shipping to Canada is pricey)

Pasting this from iPhone, hope it works. GB brand duct seal t homedepot in Toronto. 1 lb brick, found in electrical. Tell them the clay like stuff that gets packed into conduit tubing where power lines go into homes and buildings.

 

Pic doesn't work, but its okay I am going to head back to Home Depot today, and seriously get some help! I will take your advice thanks.

Thanks also John, I think I would just stick to modelling clay if I really couldn't find duct seal, and just check my doors often. Ill report back later today :-)
