Hmm i think it's good in that yeah, now people can try and see eclipse decks and speakers before they buy kinda thing. Which was a lil tougher, previously.

That being said, it never helps the small individual stores, when a "big box store" with ridiculous buying power gets their hands on the identical product as you family run business. Makes it tough to compete unless Eclipse somehow regulates things, requiring each product to be sold at certain prices.

I know personally we ran into similar troubles in the sporting world, when easton tells you they won't be selling a particular stick to costco or something that it'll be a different model, then one day walkin thru costco (or similar) you saee that same stick selling for less than what you bought the stick (as a retailer) for. Makes it tough to stay alive.

That all being said, the car audio business may be absolutely nothing like the sporting goods business.

hey guys don't forget all the employees of these big companies rely on them to put food on the table for their kids too. If eclipse(fujitsu ten) can be a more successful company and offer more jobs to more people that's not a bad thing especially if they don't compromise on the quality of their products. The fact that the products are more accessible to the masses doesn't always mean that quality has gone down the drain just exclusivity. I would prefer that a maker of good equipment stay in business than to go bankrupt just because they refuse to change and adapt with the times. Just my three cents.

^^^^^^^^^^Yes, the deal was just announced to FS employees lasy week. There won't be stock in stores for a while yet.

All of the comments above have centered around the Eclipse - FS relationship. I'm also interested in knowing what the relationship with Eclipse - A&B Sound (if anyone knows).

I've heard talk that Seanix (the company that purchased A&B Sound) might be turning the A&B Sound stores into more "computer convergence" type products. What I understand that to mean is that A&B will still sell display type product (flat panel LCD, plasma, etc.), telephones, portable MP3 players, digital cameras, software but NO MORE mobile electronics.

Does anyone have some insight into this?

Notice how I said that I would only do this to big box stores, and not my local shops? These places like FS make killings off people and every month fire the top 2 lowest employees on the sales list. I was just trying to show how the warrently plans at futureshop are excellent and I don't feel bad walking out with a new piece of kit knowing it didn't cost anyone anything.

This is what happens...
First, a half decent brand that has no distribution will align itself with the small independants, next butter up the independants by paying huge rebates, sending them on trips, and saying "limited distribution". Couple years later, the independant has done a great job in building up a small brand whether it is a good brand or not. Then.... whamo... " we had to expand distribution, its a Japanese thing ". Thanks for building up the brand.
Hope the small or mid-size indepandant had a good run and was able to make money, on to the next brand, or maybe re-support on of your old ones. Its a shame, and its undeniable.
No sense whining about it.
Oh and by the way..... agree with Defro on the subwoofer return comment.
