Problem is which set of outputs to you hook it up to??.....if the deck does the Xover functions internally you would need an EQ with at least 2 pairs of inputs and outputs to EQ all 4 speakers and pass the correct signal to each output.......sounds like way too much processing to me.....

Since you don't have a sub amp at the moment, hook the fronts to the front channels and rears to the rears......hopefully the deck doesn't HPF the front and rear outputs....

forgive my idiocy again, but i've got the rear pre-outs connected but to compare the difference, i've been testing it with and without the rear pre-outs and there is no change in sound. what gives?

Check the amp....if it has a switch to select how many inputs you are using it needs to be set to 4 channel input mode........if it's set to pass the front RCA signals to the rear channels your fader won't work even if the extra wires are hooked up from the rear deck outputs to the amp rear inputs.....

You still have a ways to go before you get the logo.......

That deck has Front/Rear/and Non-Fading "Sub" preouts IIRC. This third set of preouts has the same output regardless of the fader position but other than that is no different than the other two. There is no separate output control for it either.

Clarion had this lame preout configuration on some of it's decks too back in the day.

So it has a 'Sub" output with no level control and no Xover.......that's

And it was flogged as an "SQ" state of the art piece.....

That's how it was in the bad ol' days man. Alpine had sub outs with no crossover too back then, just full range - but at least they did have level control
