Electrical system
I'm looking at upgrading the electrical system in my 2002 Lincoln LS. Right now it is powered by a 95 amp alternator and your standard battery. For stereo equipment i'm running a 1000.1 JL and a 350.4 JL amplifiers, JL Speakers and 2 Kicker CVX 12" subs. I'm planning on replacing my HU with a Double DIN and I would also like to put 2 headrest screens in along with a PS3. My car is a lincoln and as such, everything is powered by the electrical system. Stock electrical components probably take atleast 80 amps of the alternator, not leaving much room for stereo or upgrades.
My question is: What is the best upgrade I can do to support the plans I have. I only want to buy these components once, i'm flexible on the price but I would hopefully like to keep it under 1000$. Should I be looking for just an alternator, or possibly an alternator along with a second battery, or can I get away with one alternator and one battery? This car is an every day driver.
I'm open to any and all input and if you know of any suppliers where I can get a good deal plz let me know.
Thanks

I was planning on doing a big three along with the upgrade. I know a guy who says he can get me a 150 amp alternator for 275$ but i'm not so sure I want to do this as I was hoping to get a few more amp's with the upgrade. I searched for Iraggi alternators and I couldn't find a distributor and I contacted someone at ohio generators, still waiting for a reply. Any other ideas?

Definatly going to need the extra battery power for running things like the screens and PS3. If your looking for stuff locally, go with a couple of yellow top optimas. if your looking outside of locally, go with a couple of kinetik HC800's or higher models. they're great 12V battery's meant for car audio/electronics

Alternator, no point in 2 batteries if the alternator you have now can't keep up with 1 battery. I have a Ohio Generator 200amp for a 01 Ford F350 here, not sure if it would work on your vehicle or not. I will try and find out. If you are going for a new alternator there are two ways to go. The purpose build using all new parts and as large a case as possible, or the rebuild using new windings in the same case. The latter usually leaves heating issues, more windings in the same case = more heat = failure sooner. Something for you to consider before you dive on in....
Stinger, Irragi and Ohio all build great alternators, consider all three of these manufacturers.

Anyone know of a solid high output distributor where I could possible order this?
Next stage, Once I get an alternator picked out, I want to replace my stock battery too. It's the same battery from the factory and my car is already 7 years old. Those kinetik HC800's look intense, I'm going to order one right now. That should solve battery issues.
Once all these electrical components are in, they are going to need to be installed. I want to do it on my own to gain some experience. I will be performing a Big Three upgrade as I install my alternator, may as well get the most out of it, seeing as how the power wire must be changed anyway. My battery is in the trunk, so I need to get a bunch of 4 guage wire to do that upgrade.
I picked up my head-rest screens today Alpine PKG-M780 . Just another question. For video in vehicles, how are they connected to the H/U? I believe it's through an S-video cable but I was looking at the specs for the Alpine IVA-W505 and I didn't see any mention of video input/auxiliary slots.
Thanks for your time,
D
