So last night i was doing some seaching on the web and came across the product "fatmat" which was ALOT cheaper then anyother damping product ive seen. If i do deside to buy any deadening it wont be till late spring as im short on cash right now so i was wondering if anyone has every used it and if so is it any good?

maybe i should rephrace the question....
has anyone used fatmat and had good results? or any results for that matter?
i have to say that for the price there isnt anything that comes even close to it...

I used an 80 sq. ft. foll of 1/8in. industrial flat rubber. $80, or a buck a square. That, coupled up with some contact cement and/or spray on glue, and she's like a tank now...
It was only good for flat surfaces though, if you need to be able to shape it a little, I think this stuff would be too thick.
I've heard that that "vapour barrier" stuff works well too, available at Home Depot and the like, at a fraction of the cost of made-for-car sound deadener solutions.

IMO it is better to use the correct product forthe correct application.

Especially if you are going to be using it on any surface beyond horizontal. Not fun when the "bargain" sound damping material substitute has released, and slid down the body panel, only to form a big pile of sticky mess on the floor and has left the original surface it was applied to sticky, discoloured and undamped.
Funny... didn't seem like such a bargain then.
Cheers!
