Yea, that's it, how'd you guess I made up systems, I'd really like to know how anybody can talk so much **** about something they know nothing about.

Why would I have to make something up for a bunch of people I don't even know...yea that makes sense.....why are you even talking....go back to your closet.

ah cool, this was a big box that sat where the back seats used to be.

My knowledge of SPL is minimal at best....big box + big woofers + big power = big noise.

Other than that, I don't know a whole lot about SPL box design and stuff like that...A ported box requires less power to create higher SPL levels, can also lead to a sloppy sounding woofer....I like music that sounds good and tight....that's why I stick to SQ.

BTW, EX-Maxx.....I DO like your idea....I think it could go quite far if properly done and advertised....I just saw the recent pics you took and I must say it's looking much better than it did. Also, serious question for you, not meant to be smug or anything, but how much Fiberglass work could an FS installer do? I don't think I've ever seen a full install by FS...As for not seeing any of Jamie's work....all you have to do is look at Marc Turner's Neon......that car speaks volumes about his skill level.

That's all FS installs?

I didn't know they into fiberglassing and stuff like that...I figured all they did was alarms, decks and maybe the odd subbox/amp.

That's pretty cool.

Holy sheeot...

It's WW3 on CCA. Quite entertaining.

Brandon, I'm gonna ignore your 2nd post and set the flamethrower aside for a while. This is getting out of hand. However, to answer your question:

I'd say the amount of 'glass work an FS store does depends on the techs working there. For us it's kind of in the "experimental" stage for now, which is why I'm building the stand-alone box with the fancy baffle to see if it attracts attention (which it has already). As I said earlier, this is the 3rd try at this kind of work, and I get to work on it during slow times. So... we don't do a lot of custom work here, outside of MDF boxes and the occasional custom install. I don't think the average consumer knows how much time it takes to do fibreglass work and make it look good, so the price usually scares them away. The closest thing I've done to a full system was in a Trans Am last year, and that didn't even involve any fibreglass work. We cut and fit a lot of baffles to make the install look more slick, but that's about it.

The Langley store in BC (where Tim is) is essentially the FS flagship store, so I think maybe the expectations for that kind of work are much higher out there, and that's great. I'd love to be in that kind of environment so I could learn more quickly, but unfortunately we just don't get a lot of people coming in asking for magazine installs. Even if we did, I don't think I'd be confident in my abilities as of now to do a complete system like that. It's going to take some time to learn the skills, and that's why I have my car as a guinea pig.

Anyways, I haven't had much time to finish that baffle lately. A guy came in wanting a custom ported box for 2 12" Orion HCCAs, made with 1" MDF. About 2.4ft^3 per sub with 37 sq. inches of port each, tuned to 40Hz... With the subs in it easily weighs over 120lbs, and it's going into a Suzuki Swift. This guy is crazy... He's got NOS, amongst other mods, and a HT receiver powering two bookshelf speakers in the front, with a HT sub - all powered by an inverter. Hey, I don't ask questions, I just do the work. I did not mean to create a war, I was simply implying(sp?) that Jamie does good work. Enough said about that, this is a stupid feud and if I was a mod I'd have shut it down a long time ago, but I'm done fighting if you are, lets get back to the topic here.

I would have figured that an Ontario shop would have more buisness than a BC shop. BUt being that I know how big London is and the majority of people out there are usually doing more work than recreation I guess I can picture that.

How does one get a job at FS...I thought you needed to be MECP certified, especially at a shop that installs Alarms. There was a shop in Toronto that got busted for that.

This guy with the zuki, he has too much time on his hand or more money than brains?

I'm not sure how big of a city Langley is in comparison to London, but I don't think city size is the end-all determinor of how much business a store does. We do tons of "regular" installs throughout the week, but not so much custom stuff.

You don't need MECP certification to initally get a job at FS, but I think you're required to write the test within so many months of employment. I'm not sure if this is just in Ontario, but I think you also need AEAT certification through the ministry of traning to do alarms/remote starters on your own. I have basic MECP, plus I'm apprenticing for AEAT, so I'll probably be writing a couple of tests over the summer... Yay, just like school.

What is AEAT? I've never heard of it. Similar to MECP?
