The one on the chassis under the hood is held down with a wingnut underneath. It's bolted down there so tightly that you can't move the ground at all. Btw... I'll put some silicone on there right away.
Anyhow, even with this upgraded ground the lights still dim. The battery is like a month old too. I'm probably going to get the alternator rewound sooner or later.
And about the box... it only costs about $30CAD in materials to do it and everything except the wood will last you for a lot more boxes in the future.
3/4" piece of the premium MDF from HD - $24
1 1/4" drywall screws (100) - $2
Elmer's all-weather wood glue - $4
And at your discretion some silicone caulk - $3
It just takes your time to cut the wood, glue it, pre-drill the holes and put the screws in.
