Looks like a sealed tire well enclosure to me. No IB at all. Just sealed. The sealing surface between the large wood baffle and the carpeted panel underneath, and then that carpeted panel to the metal floor of the car would be the potential air leaks. Perhaps the OP can explain how the panels are held down tight to prevent air leaks.

Whatchu tawkin' bout? That's how I had the first setup in the Daytona. Big ole 3/4" MDF baffle with a RF XLC 15 in it laid overtop of my tire well. I had put that thick truck canopy weatherstripping around the tire well to somewhat seal against the baffle. I even ported it! And it sounded good too just on a Punch DSM 40i. I couldn't detect any leakage sounds at all.

Ding Ding Ding....The first layer is 3/4"Baltic Birch with PL premium'd all to hell...Two tubes so far maybe more in a day or so. The second board is 3/4"MDF and secured the the first board and fastened at the factory four corners with black carpet. Next is another 3/4"Baltic Birch(amp rack) hinged is at the rear and the edges are raised for the grillz.

Photos are a comming - Jason and I are doing all we can to finish this up...The kicks are still incomplete but hopefully Saturday and Sunday will be a sucess.

Btw there will be no finished photos until after Daytona(if the car is done)

I guess I'm just an idiot (fairly obvious) but I'm just not seeing it.

so how does the part that lifts (amp rack) seal?...will there be fasteners?

...I guess I'll just stop trying to figure it out and check it all out on the way to Florida then carry on sir.
