Why is it the Sony amps fault? Is it the amps fault that you pushed the amp past its limits causing hard clipping which is likely the reason for your sub failure? Don't blame Sony for your own mistakes/inexperience.

As for a good currently made flat piston driver the Arc Flatline would be on my very short list of drivers.

Well Hardwrkr, you are probably right. I'm sure that I did push the amp past it's limits. No I don't think that I should blame Sony for that. It was my mistake that we used an amp that in the end couldn't handle it. You are right.

On the other hand.

I'm sure that if I were to put out enough money in the first place to buy a product that didn't heat up worse than the George Foreman grill, that I would have had a product that was actually able to keep up.

Again, my fault. Not that I bought the amp, because I didn't, but that I didn't buy one that was actually worth using.

I guess from now on I will stick to products that have a CES-rating on them.

I'm sure that I would have liked the magma a whole lot more if there was more power running to it. That usually goes hand in hand with a sub that will take 1500W max and an amp that will most likely only ever give out half of it's rated power.

Ah well it's all in the past now.
