Nothing wrong with big women...same parts, just bigger...like riding a bus instead of a bike.

There is some truth to what Dukk says.....that being said I still think Rockford produces a hell of an amplifier....lots of USA made power for not alot of money.

Since 1988 Rockford has been using their 'birth certificates' and have always been rated in RMS power.

For the past couple of years on the Punch only series, they also list peak power. This is so you can compare a Punch amp to dirty low enders that do not rate their amps in accordance to CEA2006. We know that an amp that has 777 molded right into the heatsink has no hope in hell at producing 777 RMS watts.

Of all amplifiers sent back for warranty repair the past couple of years 70% have been 'no fault found'.

What does that tell us?

First, dealers are not bench testing products when a consumer brings in his amp.

Secondly, there is many things in a car that influence how an amp will perform.....in most cased they are not being checked by dealers before sending the amp for service.

Thirdly, these amps are not being installed properly in some cases.

Cheers
Kevin

That 70% figure is pretty interesting.

I think one of the biggest reasons why I bought the RF amps was being able to see inside of them.

The components used are HUGE! When Kevin brought in a demo product before they were released, we had a pretty interesting training session. Not only do they have great components, they are definately built well. The power wire connectors for example are _very_strong. He had wire secured in there so tight you could fling the amp around by it - It was quite something tossing around this amp by the power cord. It just goes to show how these things are built...

Anyways...I'm sure Kevin's figured out who I am, so I can stop referring to the days when he was working in SK...

and you still owe me binding posts for my speakers.

no offence, but what the hell do clarion decks have to do with RF amps???

as for the new rockford amps, i believe that the company has adapted to the new times. they do what they need to do to sell the product. they put the peak power on the amps and add some cool colored lights to them, because thats what stupid kids want to see.

they do still make some very nice amps though.

Same with Alpine - they used to be THE name for CD players but everyone caught up and now people can debate who is better.
YES! finally someone has said what should be very obvious but is often overlooked. As products develop there comes a time when the gains become so miniscule as to not warrant comment, such is the case with most automotive stereo gear. We are at a point where the advances in technology mainly give us better use of space and are more convenient. The actual sound quality is very hard to improve upon, many other companies are now aware of all the techniques and technologies necessary to produce the same product or one of very similar quality. Rockford was a pioneer many years ago in car audio, today they are IMO still a very high quality brand but certainly not the be all and end all in automotive sound amplification.

Pffft, man, do you not remember the old days when people used a single Punch 40 to run an entire system?

Why do people show so much disrespect for Rockford...they are solid amps.
LMAO- I said it might have been the SHIZ !

FYI, I was just conceaved around mid november 1980...
</font>
They were the shiz man, I even remember hearing about people that ran their entire front stage off one plus 4-5 subs.
</font>
I ran 4 8" punch subs, Macrom 5 1/4" components, and a custom cneter channel speaker off of one Punch 40i.(I have had a 40, a 40i, and a 60ix)
I have not heard any of the new stuff, but when I upgrade I will still look at the newer stuff from RF.
