future shop

i was just wonder if its happening in other areas but in my town we have a future shop and it seems to be killing our small independent audio shops because they cant compete with the prices because most shops here are carrying top quality stuff that some ppl dont wanna pay the extra price for as to future shop has alot cheaper stuff i plus most of the time i go to future shop they dont know what there talking about not trying to offend ppl who work there that know there audio but id rather go to a small buisness and support the local scene.

tht was my rant for the week lol

yep i used to work for them in whitby and they screwed me over many times so i left a year ago after 2 + years and people only care about price because everyone is cheap now and buys the garbage no name crap and then complains about it before doing their research and what they want for options. Also future shop will sell you anything and everything you do not need just to make commission this includes the monster products.

How can't you compete with Future Shop's prices... If future shop sold pencils, they would be $5 a piece.

haha yeah the 4 salesmen at future shop couldnt even explain to me what gain control on an amp was haha. 1 guy said that gain makes your amp put out more power. one guy said that turning down the gain is for signal clarity.

in ottawa F/s has dominated the market, not only with retail, but with installers. All the experianced crew Ive worked with for the past 18 years works for us. If you dont feel comfortable with your sales guy, walk into the bay and ask the installer. you may be supprised.
yes I work for F/S. and so do alot of great installers.

Maybe you should train some guys down Toronto,Mississauga way because the installs that come out of big box stores around here are pathetic.

Isn't F/S here to make $$. Yes they may or not sell whatever. Bottom line. They have the deep pockets to do as they chose.

Now as for the help. Both can and do have great knowledgable staff and well the other. Do your homework you allways get what you pay for.

It's not futureshop, best buy, or even walmart... Its the Customers. the average person doesn't want to pay more for quality, they are happy with getting their whole system for a few hundred bucks...

The customers drive the market, and until they change, the market won't either.

^^ well put! Everyone has become cheap, which sometimes is a good thing. But to complain afterwards is just stupid! and I know personally a few installers from a F/S locally who didn' tknow what they were doing when they accepted the job, and then on the other hand I have met a few that were great at what they do and now since have moved on to other jobs in the same industry!!
