I went to future shop here in saskatoon for a FM modulator.
I didn't see the installer around, so there was only car audio salesmen around.
First I told them I want a FM modulator, then I had to explain to them what it does, and how it's hooked up. When I finally explained it to two guys, then figured out that they don't have one.
I think the salesmen should go through some kind of car audio quiz, and training.

if you need them to go away ask a good Q and see them run

"Also future shop will sell you anything and everything you do not need just to make commission this includes the monster products." Dude thats not a cool comment to generalize, in every commision based environment your gonna get Some GREAT and motivated salespeople who know what they are doing, then your gonna have the greedy ones. I too was in ur mindset but now as an employee on the other end of it i understand what goes on...think about it...if someones gonna sell you anything and everything u dont need, then more often then not youll find out u dont need it and return it...that not only hurts their wallet it hurts their over all numbers!, we tell our Sales associates not to touch car audio for that very reason and come to the install bay for help as car audio is not something u can BS ur way through but common man that kinda greed and box pushing is everywhere ive had it worse at a local shop! think about all angles before negative and generalistic statements like that

No...FS salespeople are told to push that Monster crap because of the insane margins on it and the greater commission.

Well i was just saying in general that the average person who knows nothing will just buy the cheapest and will buy what the sales people tell them to buy for accessories because they would not have done any research and are just looking for a simple solution not anything expensive

Im sorry if I offended anyone that took my words the wrong way cause of my poor explanation.

I don't think it's true, or fair, to generalize that people only want cheap.

Some of us want quality, and some of us are will to pay a little more for good service.

Of course we want value for our money, doesn't that make sense?

The first time i was in a Best Buy store, long before they came to Canada, I was looking for a home surround system. When the sales guy finally realized he didn't sell anything as good as i was looking for, he told me about a real, high-end audio shop in town. He even drew me a map.
The only thing i ever bought from my local future shop is my ExpressVu 9200. And that was because nobody else had them in stock.

I would say, in general, that most of the people on this forum, who take the time and effort to look into and understand what they are buying, will realize that FS isn't the place to shop.

And i gotta comment on the other point, the salesman who will sell you anything and more than you need. Good for him if you're stupid enough to buy it.

We have a saying around where I work. "Good, Fast, Cheap; Pick 2."

is it alright to buy from f/s if they carry an item at a lower price then anybody else? thats the only time I buy from places like that, when I need good answers and high end stuff I go to independant stores that are far more focused on their business
