Always take it to a pro...oh wait a second they are pros! Now what am I supposed to do? take it to another pro, I guess. Thank God I can do this stuff myself...now! Over the last 20 plus years I've been ripped off and have had extremely poor work done from all kinds of shops ranging from high end boutiques to flea market types to big chains. All I can say is learn as much as you can and either do it yourself or talk to as many people as possible to get a good shop( still not fool proof, as I still got burned way back by a very reputable shop). Good Luck!!!

Dude, that sucks, it makes all professional shops look bad. It's really too bad that more care was not taken and it's even worse that someone in the industry would not treat your car like it was their own. That just makes me

I agree. The word "pro" is unfortunately a very loose term. Heck the kids turning wrenches in the shops at Wal-Marts are even called "pros"...

Research and word of mouth are the only way to go, when it comes to anything about car repair/improvements. Myself, I've always stayed away from the big shops. The guys that work there (no offence intended to anyone here) tend not to be... how you say... as "driven" as guys in specialty shops.

That said, there are specialty shops that I wouldn't let touch my equipment.

Like I said, research... word of mouth... forums like these, are the best way to find that (audio or mechanical) tech that you'll love. And when you find him, treat him like family. Hang out with him/her occasionally when they have free time. Show up with brewskis on Friday afternoons. Send a card or fruit basket or something at Xmas, that kind of thing. A trusted mechanic can extend the life of a car by tens of thousands of km's, and many years.

I tend to agree, the word or term PRO is a vary contravertal term......word of mouth is always a good thing. Not that everyone is going to agree with the whole MECP or Mobyle Dynamics, but atleast these people have gone out and shawn the effort in the industry to do so. I do agree that the shop should have rectified the situation and you shouldn't have had to done it yourself (congrats to doing it tho) It does look bad on the Shop that is in question. But becasue of that it shouldn't say that all chain stores are bad. I personally have worked at a chain store and then at a private one and then back to the chain store again. I have had to do warrenty work at both of them, on stuff that was not my own. People should take pride in there own work and should always find away to make a customer a client.

in all fairness Harmless V8 I remmeber your truck quite well ............I WAS NOT THE INSTALLER ASSIGNED TO YOUR TRUCK so why you singled out the black guy is beyond me. but any ways I have to admit that since a bunch of the installers that were there at the time your truck was done have left anyone who had work done there has had major issues getting stuff honoured there is a lifetime install warranty!!!!
my nephew who had an alarm installed by me in a 2004 sunfire was told that they would not touch his vehicle so i fixed it on my own free time and another guy who knows my brother had to track me down because he was having issues and they would not help him both problems i rectified on my own time. Now i'm not telling you this so everyone can say hey what a nice guy i could give 2 shiznits what people have to say about me behind my back i just believe in sake of customer service you should have been looked after lifetime warranty is lifetime warranty !
but from what I over heard that day when i was knee deep in bull caca with an alarm that was not co operating was that you had a budget and you would not look kindly on paying 30 bux for another set of RCA's which were the only ones we had in stock. and also that truck did not leave with alt noise. I don't know any one that gets a stereo installed that would sign off on a work order if that was the case.

hell if you would've tracked me down I would've helped you out too!!!

well if this was not you i did see someone like you working on the truck he was working on the speaker wire's at the time and for you to say that i was on a budget well that's not true i had the money to have the job done right but at the shop they said it would sound/look good ? well we know that the shop "shortcut" the job to get it out fast because sub/amp was a free install and yes i did bring it back because the speaker/rca/and power were all out and you can see them and the alt/humm sound they cleaned up the wire's so that you could not see them but the alt/humm sound they said that it was the h/u now that it's done right it was not the h/u it was the install that shop installers did

it's all good now !! but like i said i was just giveing a head's up on this place not pointing finger's
