Maybe im confused.
This snapon air sander: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/pro_d...re&dir=catalog is 10,000RPM.
this dewalt elec. sander: http://www.dewalt.com/us/products/to...?productID=123 is 12,000 RPM..
Am i missing something george?

George would like to point out that the Snap On is only one of many air sanders. George would also like to point out that the dewalt is a orbital sander and not a Dual Action sander so in that respect George thinks that Chev2 is missing something.

But chev2 would like to point out that this Air random orbit sander: http://www.automotiveequipment.com/c...html?E+scstore also has a RPM of 10,000..
Chev2 would like George to post a make and model of a sander with a higher RPM, or one that he recommends (Weither it be random orbit? or DA?).. Chev2 would like to purchase one to make his sanding go quicker.

George would like to point out that the Dewalt is someone the exception to electric sanders that go that high. George uses several DA sanders which all run in the 10k plus RPM range. George uses a small 3" DA sander from Chicago that is much higher then most sanders and it works great for small curves. George thinks the link you post shows what seems like a very good sander. George thinks Hutchin makes a great sander. George doesn't think that Snap On sanders are worth the month they ask.

George would like to clarify something he said in the previous post about electric sanders not matching air sanders in RPM speed. While electric sanders run in the same higher RPM ranges like air sanders they do not normally offer the variable speed control by the pressure of the trigger. George knows that most electric sanders are variable speed but most are not variable by the pressure on the trigger.

Loudsubz would like to point out cost of a good air compressor system to run air sander is way above the price range most DIY want to spend, or space wise to hold a large gallon capacity air compressor system to put out suffecient SCFM.
