Hey guys, driving around (not annoying people, Im not stupid) I have the stereo just quakingly loud, like I honestly think the Vifa sub is going to explode (1000 watts into a 400 watt RMS sub will do that!!) but its as loud as it gets. Naturally, I know it can do some wicked hearing loss in little time. (I'll bet its around mid to high 130s now, with the new amp). I love to have it loud when out there on a highway, I just love the seat rocking, with the windows and mirrors pulsating.

And Im not stupid, I know how fast it'll hurt my hearing if I'm not wearing ear plugs. So I do, I wear these little Flexible rubber ones, that go in your ear. It gives a -23db attenuation, but 135 db -23db (with the earplugs) still leaves 115db, and this can still hurt the hearing? After a long drive, my hearing is a little off, and cant hear as well as I normally can. In time, this will cause peramanent hearing loss I know, or is it just me? I've seen SO MANY people, that regularily have ridiculously loud stereos, after years and years and years, and they still have perfectly fine hearing. (Or so it seems) is it just me, or are some peoples hearing very sensitive, and can damage easily, while others cant?

Are there any really good 'in-ear' ear plugs out there? I know these HUGE ear muff style ones work great, but are there great in ear kind? like more then 30db attenuation at all? I'd like to get a pair if anybody knows of any. Thanks All Y'all

well i am an avid hunter and i know there is some great ear plugs that you can wear all the time...it is an electronic thing...they go right on the ear but they can tell the difference from really loud noises and normal ones so you can hear people talk like you arent wearing them but wehn you fire off the gun it changes itself and blocks off the passageway into the ear....i am sorry i do not know the naem if them ...but jsut thought i would lewt you know they are out there

Cool, but what is they're maximum attenuation? is it past 30 db? Probably not eh? I'm still looking for ones that good.

I think its pointless though, I've noticed that a lot of the bass that I hear, doesn't come through the ear-plug, it hits my ear drum by passing through the fleshy stuff, thus for the most part bypassing the ear plug entirely, maybe I'm wrong though... Damn it

well if ur wearing these don't get cought by the cops and as to were u can get better in ear plugs at ur local hardware store or construction rental store since most construction equiment runs louder than 90 db and continues exposure 80 db and higher will cause some damage in the long run and it will be diffrent person to person. and some cops i've talk to will pull you over if the can hear u a block away. 80db is almost inaudable, thats about as loud as a butterfly flapping its wings? (that makes a sound measurable at all?) 90 is about as loud a whisper and its up from there, so "chevy truck guy" your stereo has to be louder then 90, thats like a person talking to you normally. So Home Depot, here (hear) I come. Actually, they're still open, so I gotta go, thanks guys.
Greatly appreciated, I mean that.
